War Memorials of Bath

home

My Name is Terry Morgan, this is my first attempt at a Web Site.

I was asked by a relation to photograph the War Memorial in Victoria Park to establish whether another relation appears there. “Surely you can find that on the Internet” I answered and was quite surprised when you couldn’t. So I set out to correct the omission, both as a remembrance of those who died an as a resource to assist people tracing their ancestors.

I’ve divided my results into

The main Bath Memorial

Other memorials

Plaques.

This was quite a salutatory exercise. I was shocked by the scale of deaths from a small city like Bath in the First World War. I was also amazed to find how widespread the First World was, I had a great uncle who died in Basra so I knew the War was not purely a European affair but I was surprised to find deaths in Israel and Egypt, it’s almost as if today’s problems are left over business from 1918.
